ATK Mohun Bagan

Quotes:

Peyton: "I have been very lucky. We have had a few meetings which were very positive for everybody. It brought us together and all the senior players and all Indian players are getting together now and we are going to show in the last six games a very positive attitude, a determination to win as many games as possible and take the club forward."

Peyton: "We have talked about the way we play. It is important that we concentrate on what we want to do. Stuart (Baxter) has put a very good structure, and I want to keep to the structure, but I want to more quality in our passing, ball accuracy, speed, supporting the ball when I get in good areas and more purpose and commitment when we are going into the box. Maybe in set-plays more determination and commitment. If we can tweak that a little bit, I think we will turn this around, "

Peyton: "Missing Steven Taylor is a big loss to the team because he has been fantastic all season. I just looked into the last game against ATKMB where we lost in the last 30 seconds from a free-kick which went down on the side of the box and Roy Krishna scored from an angle. Without any doubt, we will be in this game. I want the boys to go with a positive attitude to win the game."

Peyton: "They are a very good team," said Peyton. "They play to their strengths, they have good players. When you look at their number 6 on the left-hand side (Manvir Singh), he is very good. (Sandesh) Jhingan looks very solid at the back. Tiri also looks solid in defence. He plays a lot of diagonal balls. They will look to come down on our flanks and they are very strong in the air. So we know what to expect."

Habas: "We have to play in the same way against Odisha as we played against Mumbai City. The competition in ISL is very high and there are no small teams. They have a special situation with the coach out now. But whenever there is a change in team or coach the motivation increases by 20 per cent."

Habas: "We can talk about this (conceding goals) when we have a complete squad. Throughout the season we have had problems with injuries above to foreign players. It is very difficult to stick to a fixed lineup in two consecutive matches.

Habas: "It is impossible to keep the same level in defence for 20 matches. We did not have a perfect defence in the last two matches but we are improving in the attack. We have to find a balance,"

Habas: "He (Lenny Rodrigues) is a good professional player. I had him in Pune City (2016) so when we got the opportunity to sign him we signed him immediately. For me, he is in good condition and he is improving."

Habas: "Marcelinho is performing at his level and it is important. He has adapted immediately to the squad and we have more possibility of winning as Marcelinho is a good player."

Quotes:

Habas: “We try to advise the players in every situation. Now the situation is that we’ve won the first few games but we need to continue the next games as well,”

Habas: “There is no room for overconfidence in the team. The players are fantastic professionals and have the idea to win every day. They don’t think about the scores and are just focused on getting wins every game,” he added.

Habas: “Odisha have a very good coach. I know about Stuart Baxter from my time back managing in South Africa. He comes with experience and a fantastic CV. I respect him and I think he respects me as well. We knew about each other a long time ago and I’m sure he’s doing really good work with Odisha,”

Habas: “Edu Garcia has a small injury problem right now and he will probably recover in the next three-four days,”

Habas: “For me, Marcelinho is one of the best players in ISL. Maybe he wasn’t at his very best last season, but we have to take care of him because he is very good in set pieces and can cause a lot of problems as a playmaker. We are preparing to contain him as well,”

Habas: “It doesn’t really matter if he is fully fit or not fully fit. I don’t think a single player is 100% fit at the moment in the ISL because of the strange circumstances.”

Habas: “Now the players have to adapt to the competition in Goa, after not having played for a long time. Now we have to keep working with the players and ensure they can reach their optimum fitness levels soon,”

Habas: “It’s not that important to start the season by winning the first two or three game. The more important thing is to win the ISL final or win the last few games. Now it’s good for us that we’ve started the season in positive fashion, but we have to continue winning all the matches.”

Habas: “We are preparing for the month. Maybe the schedule isn’t the best fixtures in the world, but this what we have to adapt for the football season in the Covid era. We have no excuses. We have to play very well and we’re prepared for the challenge ahead.”

Habas: “In terms of circumstances, I think that the performance level of the team is same from last season,”

Habas: “Normally you get time to prepare for the season but now having not played for seven-eight months and being expected to be perfect is not good. I think that the team and players need time and maybe ATK Mohun Bagan can be at their 70-80% best in the first week of January,”

Baxter: “It will give us a little bit more belief but we are gonna keep our feet on the ground and make sure we keep on working.”

Baxter: “It’s difficult because yes they are balanced and yes they’ve been together for a while and their way of play is difficult to play against.”

Baxter: “They have good players who can hurt you if you push on and leave space behind and if you don’t do that, then they are very solid defensively. So that’s the conundrum you’re gonna face when you play against ATK MB,”

Baxter: “There was an injury with Arshdeep, and therefore Kamaljit stepped in. I think he did well and we are happy we can get that sort of a competition between our goalkeepers.”

Baxter: “You can’t expect young players to walk in an environment they are not used to with a new coach and immediately be a finished article. During the time they are gaining experience, they can learn and still give a performance which will strengthen their confidence and also help the team.”

Baxter: “In the first-half, even though we were 2-0 down, we were still playing a lot better than we did against Hyderabad. I was relatively pleased with the way we approached the game. We were more compact, we were breaking out and playing through the lines much better.”

Baxter: We gave away two sloppy goals which put us on the backfoot. Luckily in the second half, the players approached the game in the correct way and kept their confidence. To get to 2-1 with 15 minutes to play roughly, I think everyone was hunting for that second goal and if the game was five minutes longer, we would have got the third goal,”

Baxter: “They should be part of the squad, whether they can take part in the game we will take a decision. He (Vinit) has had an injury that he picked up against Mumbai in the friendly and it’s been a quite bad one for him. He is fit but is he match fit, that decision we have to make.”

Baxter: "This is all very new to him. George does have potential and he needs to add to his armoury a little bit more in terms of calmness and also in terms of positional play. I expect George to certainly take part in the games to come.”

Baxter: “Not really. I think you respect them because they are good players and they are experienced players.”

Baxter: “But we have to make sure that whilst we are throwing players forward, we are aware of the fact that on transition, if they can get into the game quickly when we are spread out then they can be effective. More than that, it’s gonna be up to the players on the day to make sure to take away the spaces they want and we defend well one vs one,”

Baxter: “All I’ll say is Diego did make a massive impact when he came on, I think Manu plays very well with the other players, so, in my mind I’ve gotta decide whether I start with Diego who makes an impact or Manu who plays well with other players. That’s the call I’ve gotta make.”

Baxter: “We had very little game time to put ideas into practice. So we are literally using the league games as a way of improving. That’s massively difficult. I think the Indian boys have approached that in a very very good way.”

Baxter: “We are a work in progress and I think they’re approaching in the best way possible. We have to get results at the same time because if you don’t, it steals belief, confidence and the process takes a lot longer. Hopefully we can pick up points along the way,”

Stumbled upon this article. Soooooo much chamchagiri here man. Ufff.

Bollywood’s pampered and privileged generation
By Subhash K Jha
September 08, 2019 at 11:30 AM
Say ‘hi’ to the P&P (pampered and privileged) generation. The first time I met Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam on the sets of her soon-to-be-her-director Sanjay Bhansali’s Black, I saw this really tall, dusky, sweet and angelic girl eager to prove herself. Little did I now what was in store for her. Sonam was trying her best to make herself useful on the sets. She was eager to learn and was raring to go. The fact that she had just returned from abroad and had the best of education and opportunities only added to her anxiety to prove herself. Spoilt kid? No way! Ranbir Kapoor too is an exact antithesis of what you expect a star-kid to be. Polite, clued-in, alert and computer savvy, Ranbir cannot afford to be anything but the paragon of patience and discipline.
Sonam and Ranbir needed to prove themselves twice as hard as other newcomers. The fact that they belong to two of the most illustrious families of filmdom puts an extra burden on them. Today they’ve done it on their own. Family names apart. It doesn’t matter how talented or charming you are. Being privileged means being persecuted. And I don’t mean just being a star-kid. Be small, be humble and apologetic about your privileged background. It’s the only way you will get past the producer’s smirking disdain. I think Abhishek, Esha, Karisma, Kareena, Ranbir, Varun, Alia, Sara and Janhvi have had to struggle far harder than the average outsider (some of whom are truly average!). Time and again, they were pulled up for where they came from, so much so that soon they began to believe it was a crime to belong to a film family.
One of them once confessed, “Nothing I do is right. My face, my hair, my body language, facial expressions, they are all supposed to be terrible when compared to my mom’s. What do I do? Should I publicly disown my pedigree and pretend to be this poor jholacarrying struggler from Rohtak who has to sleep her way to the top?” Relax, my dear. That stereotype is way too passé to be even remotely parodic. Even Mallika Sherawat, who once confessed to me that she had to “claw” her way out of poverty and bigotry, turned out to be indulging in a whole lot selfdelusory romantic hokum.
My dear departed friend Rituparno Ghosh once said to me, “The class of archetypal strugglers who landed at Mumbai Central with dreams in their eyes and Rs 500 in their pocket, who slept on the pavements and danced for amused producers, hoping they’d get a role, died with Dharmendra and Mithun Chakraborty. There are no strugglers in the true sense. Many of these new wannabes drive sports cars and carry glossy portfolios of their pictures. We can’t hold their lack of ‘struggle’ against them.” Rituparno had more to say. “These young boys and girls are extremely focused because cinema isn’t a meal ticket for them. And by God, they’re so professional! One major upcoming ‘classic’ actress whose first film got her awards galore opted out of my big epic film due to date problems. She didn’t bother to even call me to opt out. She had her business manager send me an SMS, telling me she had quit and why. Now what do you say to that?” Yup, this is a new forceful and upbeat breed which doesn’t think much of the old role-model of how a star should behave. At the same time, the new P&P breed of wannabes are bigger stars in their heads than Rajesh Khanna ever was or Kumar Gaurav could have ever been.

Ranji Trophy Round 7 Recap and Post Match Thread

Elite Group A

Andhra vs Kerala in Ongole
Andhra (255 and 3/43) beat Kerala (162 and 135) by seven wickets
Points: Andhra 6, Kerala 0
Player of the Match: Mohammad Rafi
Day 1: Kerala’s season goes from bad to worse. If losing four out of six wasn’t enough, they were put in to bat and were bowled out for 162 in Ongole. Andhra’s Shoaib Mohammad Khan, the fast bowler, picked up his maiden first-class five-for. Andhra ended on 52 for 1, trailing by just 105. Currently, Andhra top Groups A&B combined.
Day 2: DB Prasanth Kumar's 79 has helped Andhra pocket a 93-run lead against Kerala in Ongole. Andhra were cruising, but lost 5 for 75 to be bowled out for 255.
Day 3/Result: They don't get the due credit they often deserve, but Andhra have quietly been punching above their weight. Their most-recognised batsman Hanuma Vihari is away in New Zealand but the others have shown quietly that they can't be taken lightly. Ask Kerala, who bore the brunt of their fury in Ongole. Andhra took a 93-run lead, bowled Kerala out for 135 runs and then knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets. The pace duo of Prithvi Raj and KV Sasikanth picked up five wickets between them, while Rafi picked up three. Barring Robin Uthappa and Rohan Prem, none of the other Kerala batsmen looked set. They've now lost five out of their seven matches and are in line for relegation along with MP and Hyderabad.
50+ Scores: Prasanth Kumar (79)
3-wicket hauls: Shoaib Mohammad Khan (5/62), Yarra Prithviraj (3/37 & 3/26), Basil Thampi (3/43), Jalaj Saxena (3/56) and Mohammad Rafi (3/29)
Bengal vs Delhi in Kolkata
Delhi (7/242) drew with Bengal (318). (First innings incomplete).
Point: Delhi 1, Bengal 1
Player of the Match: Anustup Majumdar
Day 1: Half-centuries from Anustup Majumdar and Shreevats Goswami have helped Bengal power ahead to 286 for 5 against Delhi at Eden Gardens.
Day 2: Bengal are in sight of a first-innings lead after they reduced Delhi to 192 for 6 at stumps. They still have 126 runs to play with at Eden Gardens. Dhruv Shorey was Delhi's only half-centurion.
Day 3: Delhi 217 for 7 in response to Bengal's 318. Only 9.3 overs were possible at Eden Gardens because of rain and wet outfield.
Day 4/Result: Only 180.4 overs were possible in the match, which is essentially two day's play only. Both teams will share a point with Delhi 242 for 7 in reply to Bengal's 318. Disappointing for both teams, who would have been looking forward to making some upward movement in the points table, but have to be satisfied with just 1 point each.
50+ Scores: Anustup Majumdar (99), Shreevats Goswami (59), Dhruv Shorey (65) and Jonty Sidhu (53*)
3-wicket hauls: Simarjeet Singh (4/77), Vikas Mishra (3/78) and Mukesh Kumar (3/75)
Gujarat vs Vidharbha in Surat
Gujarat (211 and 6/181) beat Vidarbha (142 and 247) by 4 wickets
Points: Gujarat 6, Vidarbha 0
Player of the Match: Parthiv Patel
Day 1: Gujarat have the upper hand against defending chamopions Vidarbha after skittling them for 142 in Surat, with left-arm spinner Siddharth Desai picking up four wickets. They've responded solidly, on 88 for 1.
Day 2: Vidarbha have wiped out the deficit but have lost four wickets in the process. Gujarat hold the aces.
Day 3: Gujarat v Vidarbha could be a thriller tomorrow. Gujarat are 74 for 4, needing another 105 for victory. That the defending champions were able to extend their lead was courtesy a fine 87 by crisis man Akshay Wadkar.
Day 4/Result: Second straight defeat for the double defending champions, who had gone two full seasons without tasting a loss. Gujarat were excellently served by having the calm, experienced head of Parthiv Patel batting at No.7. Parthiv struck 5 fours and 1 six in breezing to 41* off 51 balls, shrugging off the loss of both overnight batsmen - Manprit Juneja and Roosh Kalaria - to Umesh Yadav in successive overs. At 118 for 6, the target of 179 looked tricky for Gujarat, but Parthiv ensured no more wickets would fall, taking his team to a four-wicket win. And it's come in his 100th Ranji Trophy game too! The 2016-17 champions have beaten the 2017-18 and 2018-19 champions.

Day 2: Hyderabad have been pegged back after they picked up a 36-run lead. They're 65 for 4 in the second innings, leading by 101. Their hopes rest on Akshath Reddy, the opener, to help build a sizable lead that they will try and defend. Hyderabad are winless in the competition so far.

Player of the Match: Jaydev Unadkat
Day 1: As many as 16 wickets fell in Vadodara on a day no side can claim as their own. Baroda were put in to bat and were shot out for 154 with Jaydev Unadkat picking 6 for 34. Saurashtra, without Cheteshwar Pujara who is gearing up for the New Zealand tour, 114 for 6 with Lukman Meriwala picking four wickets.
Day 2: Jaydev Unadkat's six-for in each innings has put Saurashtra in a position from where they can look to win outright. However, that is easier said than done. Saurashtra conceded a 12-run lead, but struck back to dismiss Baroda for 187 in the second innings. Set 200 to win, they're currently 15 for 1.
Day 3/Result: Jaydev Unadkat may have taken six wickets apiece to help set up the game, but Saurashtra still had 200 to chase down. Baroda had Saurashtra on the mat at 113 for 6. Madhya Pradesh vs Uttar Pradesh in Indore
Uttar Pradesh (216 and 3/178) beat Madhya Pradesh (230 and 160) by seven wickets
Points: UP 6, MP 0
Player of the Match: Saurabh Kumar
Day 1: Yash Dubey's 70 pushed Madhya Pradesh to 230 from 120 for 6. Uttar Pradesh would've pleased with their bowling effort considering they conceded a lead against Mumbai after posting 653 in Mumbai last week. But the batsmen have left them tottering on 22 for 3 in Indore after debutant Ravi Yadav picked a hat-trick in his very first over on first-class debut.
Day 2: After pocketing a 14-run lead, MP made serene progress in the second innings to set them up for a solid target. UP will need to strike early if they're to be in with a shout in the match. Ravi Yadav, the debutant who took a hat-trick in his first over, finished with a five-for.
Day 3/Result: UP conceded a hat-trick to debutant Ravi Yadav, were bowled out cheaply in the first innings to concede a lead. But everything after that has been magical. In reply to MP's 230, UP were tottering at 46 for 7. From there, UP had no business of winning, right? Saurabh Kumar came up wit an improbable 98 but couldn't quite get them to a lead as UP fell 14 short, but they fought back with the ball. Points: Karnataka 7, Railways 0
Player of the Match: Ronit More
Day 1: Prateek Jain's four-for reduced Railways to 98 for 6 in New Delhi after Karnataka put them into bat. Only 49 overs of play was possible and similar weather - fog and bad light - is expected over the next three days.
Day 2: Rain and bad light has frustrated Karnataka on a day where little cricket was possible against Railways. More than a day has now been lost to the weather.
Day 3: A blazing 41 from K Gowtham helped a misfiring Karnataka snatch the first innings points from Railways at the Karnail Singh Stadium.
Day 4/Result: A dominant display by a champion team. When Karnataka were 177 for 9 with Railways having made 182, anything was possible. S Sharath (62) dragged Karnataka to 211 all out. It looked like this match would peter out into a draw with rain having eaten up considerable time. But Karnataka's pacers came out charged up, and Railways were blindsided, tumbling to 79 all out in 30 overs. Ronit More took 6 for 32 - including an over in which he had three wickets - and gave Karnataka a target of just 51 for victory. The pitch likely influenced Karnataka's decision to send Rohan Kadam alongside Devdutt Padikkal to open the innings, and the decision paid off. The openers rattled to 51 without loss in just 8.2 overs, both men scoring at a fast clip. Not just victory, Karnataka are walking away with a bonus point too.

Most Customer-Centric company my ass.

Here is my story. Sorry for the wall of text.
I live in Uruguay, so I was really glad that there is an Amazon Global option that includes import fees taxes.
On March 1st, I made sure to search individually and find three different items that I wanted to buy. These items were added to my wishlist. I am 100% sure they were available to ship to Uruguay with Amazon Global.
On March 2nd, I searched for these items again from my wishlist, and made sure to pick my Uruguayan address so they included Import Fees.
I addded the following items:
During checkout, there was a "Import fee" line with a reasonable price. So I was never able to suspect anything.
On March 6th starts my awful experience. Before the package arrives, Fedex contacts me saying that Import Fees are not included. It was for the package that had the Samsung 850 PRO - 256GB - 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-7KE256BW).
I obviously went to Amazon to chat and know what was going on. This was the result.
09:23 AM PST Aditya: I've contacted the carrier on your behalf and explained them your concern. 09:24 AM PST Aditya: And can confirm that the package will be cleared and was stuck in customs clearance delay. Please be assured, the package will now be delivered to your shipping address on the Estimated Delivery Date.
I replied to Fedex saying that I was contacted by Amazon, but that everything should be clear now.
On March 8th, I recieve documents from Fedex, invoice and airway bill to do the import and clear it from customs, by paying taxes of course. And Fedex states this in the tracking, and shows the package as delivered. I have proof that wasn't delivered, that Amazon has no intention to see.
On March 9th, I start a conversation with Amazon again. I explain to them that the package is held by customs, that customs fees are not included even when bought with Amazon Global. The following response was recieved.
04:21 AM PST Vivek: You're most welcome and I thank you for your understanding.Nope, you do not have to contact the seller or concern about this order anymore. We will taking care of this matter and directly interact with the seller on behalf of you .Please give sellers two business days to respond. When they reply, you can respond directly to their e-mail.
And the reply from the store, which I won't name, as I doubt it is directly their fault, while I think in the last stage they are the ones to fault, just stated this.
Thank you for the reply we sell on the Amazon Marketplace which does not participate on the global program. Any order placed through the marketplace for international shipping is subject to import taxes and fees from the local government.
It was not until then that I realize that for some weird checkout algorithm, it decided to change to a seller that didn't include Amazon Global. I tried to explain this to them too, they said they would escalate the bug to the guys who take care of that, but never heard from them again.
I needed the part, so I decided to place the order again on March 14th. To my incredible surprise, with Amazon Global, the product was over $30 cheaper than the weird seller it picked on the main order. I reported this again, never heard from them again. Because this is a bug. Under no circunstances if I search for an Amazon Global product, should be picking a more expensive seller that doesn't includes Import Fees. But that's another story.
Chats were terminated by some awful people. But I am not a quitter, I just brought the subject a couple of hours later knowing I would get a different person. Which most are so kind and all understand my situation, but they keep on the sellers side.
Second purchase of the same item was recieved on March 27th. Everything was fine.
I kept discussing with Amazon. Chatting, opening the A-to-Z guarantee five times, explaining it all over again, check the responses.
We have closed your claim for order 112-2743366-2993845 because the tracking information below shows that someone at your address signed for the package. This order is not eligible for the A-to-z Guarantee because it arrived at your address. Hector Jesus, March 15th
That was the first time, but not the last one.
Please note that we have closed your claim because the tracking information below shows that someone at your address signed for the package. This order is not eligible for the A-to-z Guarantee because it arrived at your address. However, additional charges for customs clearance or duty fees have to be paid by the recipient; because customs policies vary widely from country to country, we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they might be. Rita, March 16th
Another one.
As stated previously, please note that we have closed your claim because the tracking information below shows that someone at your address signed for the package. This order is not eligible for the A-to-z Guarantee because it arrived at your address. Bharath, March 16th
Wow, they are true detectives.
As stated previously, please note that we have closed your claim because the tracking information below shows that someone at your address signed for the package. This order is not eligible for the A-to-z Guarantee because it arrived at your address. Although we understand your position, we have reviewed this claim and we stand by our decision. We cannot give you more information about this matter, and we may not reply to further emails about this claim. Shabaz, March 19th
Ahh, thanks for understanding my position and keep on the sellers side.
Then, as I didn't have the package, I do my best with Fedex to make them return it to the seller. I took the time to go to a Fedex office in my city, explain all the situation, they understood and they would take care of it. I handed them the documents I recieved.
A couple of days later, I recieve a phone call from Fedex to confirm the return process was going ok.
After a lot of emails, chats, and more emails, and more chats in Spanish (my first tongue). The seller confirmed this on April 20th.
I was able to finally get a hold of FedEx last week and they informed me that the unit is being shipped back to us.
So if it was last week, it was around April 15th. I have been in contact with the storage at the airport, where the package is still there. To this day. I was no longer contacted by Fedex, and the seller has replied multiple times that they won't send a refund unless they recieve the package.
So I kept insisting with Amazon, as I believe they should take responsibility.
As stated previously, please note that we have closed your claim because the tracking information below shows that someone at your address signed for the package. This order is not eligible for the A-to-z Guarantee because it arrived at your address. Gaurav, April 28th
I started to tell Amazon that I doubt that the seller has accepted to return the package. Seriously, it took 6 days to go from one side to here, and have passed around three weeks, and the package never left my country. How can Amazon side on the seller?
We have closed your claim for order 112-2743366-2993845 because the tracking information below shows that someone at your address signed for the package. This order is not eligible for the A-to-z Guarantee because it arrived at your address. Srikrishna, May 4th
Kept insisting the package is still in Airport Storage in Uruguay. If the seller never recieves the package, they never have to make a refund if Amazon protects them like this. And I keep trying, because 220 USD might not be much, but it is important for a third country person.
We have closed your claim for order 112-2743366-2993845 because the tracking information below shows that someone at your address signed for the package. This order is not eligible for the A-to-z Guarantee because it arrived at your address. Vivek, May 4th
And again, incredible detectives has Amazon. I have no idea what do they investigate on this.
We have closed your claim for order 112-2743366-2993845 because it is not eligible for coverage.
Although we understand your position, we stand by our decision.
We cannot give you more information about this matter, and we may not reply to further emails about this claim. Anjani Kumar, May 6th, today.
And this one was the one that brought me here.
I don't know what else to say, do, explain to them.
I still can't believe they side on the sellers and not the customer.
I can't believe they refuse to accept there was some bug during checkout. Why would it pick a more expensive and not Import fee included as the other two items that were recieved fine?
I will keep fighting this. Not only for the money that I need, but because it is the right thing to do.
Thanks for the time if you have reached down here.
If you have any suggestion on how to approach this to Amazon to make them understand one customer and not a lier seller, then please help me out. If not, just thanks again for reading and maybe I will prevent some mistake in the future.

Let's try to make a list of deserving awards in Bollywood [np]

The following is my input on the Filmfare best actor awards from 1974 (first year with 5 nominees) till now. Please share your opinions on these and if one of you can spare some time, we can have some polls too. I am just trying to restrict myself to the best among nominees here, but feel free to extend beyond in the discussion.
The format of the following list is the winner of the year is first and followed by nominees. Copied from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filmfare_Award_for_Best_Actor
This one was the one which Rishi Kapoor said he had to buy. Obviously he had to, cause this year had Amitabh in Zanjeer and Sanjeev Kumar in Koshish. My pick is Sanjeev Kumar.
No idea
Can't argue with this pick. Uttam Kumar from Amanush is a close second.
Can't argue here too. Amol Palekar is the second pick.
This one really depends on your tastes, but Amitabh's performance can be said to be the best in the group.
I would have still gone for Amitabh but in Muqaddar ka Sikandar.
Can't argue with this one
No arguing with this one too.
Amitabh in Silsila/Lawaaris can be considered here. This is one of the few years where an art movie performance was considered above a good mainstream performance.
This is one of the years where any judge will sweat while thinking of picking only one. Amitabh in Namak Halal/Shakti, Naseeruddin in Bazaar and Sanjeev Kumar in Angoor!!!! Wow, and even Rishi Kapoor gave a career best performance (younger career) in Prem Rog. Pick Any, it is a tough year.
Another tough year. Masoom , Sadma and Ardh Satya!!! I personally would have gone for Sadma.
Naseeruddin Shah in Sparsh gives a good competition, but I don't think anyone would argue against this one too.
Kamal Haasan is the best among the nominees. But his year clearly seems a weak year compared to previous ones.
Best among the nominees won this one.
Jackie Shroff is the best pick and this is among his best movies. When did Gardish come? I do not see it in the nominations. It seems that it was snubbed.
As good as Sunny Paaji was here, I feel Amitabh was snubbed this year.
One can argue for other nominees but I feel this one is correctly chosen.
Hard to pick between Anil Kapoor and Amitabh here, but I am fine with either.
Wow, Jackie was unlucky to have Gardish in this year. This one is SRK's award. No doubt.
No arguing with this one. I also feel if I argue Nana from this movie would argue back and I won't be able to answer back.
SRK or Aamir depending on your taste. Rangeela was no doubt one of the best performances by Aamir, but one can argue for SRK in DDLJ too.
Nana Patekar was very clearly snubbed.
I would have given it to Anil Kapoor this year.
It is Aamir's award. It seems that the second half of the nineties is the worst time for filmfare. It is at this time that they clearly are favouring box office collections than performances.
I won't argue with this one. Sorry, Aamir.
It seems like a snub, but the other nominees are also not that great. I personally would have given it to SRK.
No arguing here
No arguing here too.
One can argue for other nominees here, but I personally feel that this one is correct.
No arguing here
No arguing here too
Aamir was snubbed here. Hrithik was the epitome of cool in Dhoom 2, but.... I don't know, we generally do not considered good cool acting as acting. In any case, Aamir created a classic character in RDB which would be long remembered.
No arguing here
It is Naseeruddin's award
Good nominees but it is Amitabh's award. Next choice is Shahid. Sorry, Aamir.
Best among the nominees won.
Again, no arguing with this one.
Irrfan was snubbed. Second choice is Manoj Bajpai.
One can argue for Dhanush here or even Ranveer Singh. But, I think this is a correct winner.
No arguing here.
Best among the nominees won.
Overall it seems to me that more often than not (I would say about 70-80% times), the best among the nominees wins. Also, there was a phase during late 90s, early 2000s that had a few obvious snubs. In the past decade also, there are only 3 times one can argue there was an obvious snub.
In any case, what are your opinions?

Cashaa — What it means to a Common Man!

CashaaCommunity
Cashaa
Bitcoin
altcoin
altcoin_news
Cashaa Finally, a new innovation of the century is up here! People wondering what this token is? Is this a Wallet? Is this a bank? Is this about transferring money? Is this lending / loans or financing?
Or is this just a one other Virtual Currency trading?
Well, the answer is ‘Yes’, to all the questions above. Cashaa is a next generation banking platform. So you can relate it now. A Utility tokenwhich can satisfy the banking needs of people across the globe. In Cashaa, we usually say we are “banking the unbanked”. A statistics shows (you can google it) that around two billion people worldwide do not have a bank account or access to any financial institution. Do you believe that? As I am writing this, I believe the total world population is 7.6 Billion out of which around 25% are children. That brings 5.7 billion people above the age of 15 out of which 2 Billion are unbanked meaning 35% of people are unbanked globally.
Today, there is NO one solution, one country, one remittance company or one product who can even bank the 65% banked population, forget the unbanked 35%. Here comes “CASHAA” to rescue the present generations and future generations to come and to offer one stop solution, one product which can serve the humanity.
Have you ever thought there can be safe, secure, legal, quick & affording way to send and receive money from anywhere to anyone. Yes, it is gonna be a reality soon, Cashaa is a utility token basically to send money from “anywhere anyone to anyone anywhere” without even having any knowledge of cryptocurrencies or blockchain or even Cashaa. Yes, it’s true!
If you are a person in UK and if you would like to send money to someone let’s say in Sri Lanka, today both of you (sender & receiver) cannot do it without a local bank account or without going through a Forex exchange and following tedious processes of money transfer especially when it is from one country to another or without any cuts on the money that you send. And finally it’s gonna be days for your loved ones or friends or businesses to receive it on the other end. OMG, have we been sinned to go through this for ever?
Here’s the path breaking solution that Cashaa offers wherein the receiver can receive the money from the sender within 30 minutes and offcourse in his/her local currency, legally, safely without owning a single Cashaa token or even knowing about it and without any fee.
One can say that’s what other cryptocurrencies do! Well if you judge a book by its cover, you need to face the reality soon. Yes off-course you can buy say bitcoin through a regulated / unregulated crypto exchange in your country, then transfer it on blockchain across borders who can receive it and then convert it again through local country crypto exchange back to fiat of his/her local currency. Do you think the unbanked population or a lay man can do this at ease? And most importantly will this route be always legal? Or if you think you prefer to continue with global remittance Forex exchanges you can do so by taking days to transfer and by paying high service fees to the intermediaries. Again this traditional method doesn’t bother about common man / lay man or the unbanked population.
There is just one product which works with both, cryptocurrencies (Yes, even other Cryptos or tokens) and local fiat currencies globally and it is “THE CASHAA” aiming to bring the people closer. With that being said, the next obvious question is, “Is Cashaa” going against traditional banks or central agencies? The answer is a BIG NO. The greatest stability & framework to Cashaa is that it is working with banks & regulatory agencies which are part of its ecosystem. Else this solution would simply not work. A live example is that Cashaa is the first ever ICO rejecting around 14 Million dollars from unverified users to ensure KYC compliance.
Apart from the next generation banking solution, with Cashaa tokens you can store, save, spend, receive, borrow and get insured. It is the only product which shall be complaint, transparent, safe, secure, simple, easy to use and abides by regulation.
Mr. Kumar Gaurav is the CEO and the brain behind Cashaa (UK Based Company) who is a serial entrepreneur and Chairman of Auxesis Group, India’s first enterprise Blockchain company and his team together brings in 200 years of experience into it. He is among top 100 most influential people in the world who are leading the evolution of Blockchain and was awarded Extraordinary status (O1 visa) by United States government.
Kumar is a tirelessly working CEO, one of his kind who leads, strategizes and works on ground towards bringing this product into live globally enabling users to send money without any fee anywhere in the world.. He has already brought Cashaa & Auxesis among top 100 blockchain companies in the world. It is said that Kumar once personally faced the money transfer problem while he was out of his home country which later instigated him to come up with this idea to serve the humanity, “The true Satoshi Vision”.

What is the legal procedure in India (Delhi Police) for being arrested and for the arrestee to ensure their civil and legal rights are not being violated? [R]

I've been meaning to ask this question for a while now, and this recent article http://scroll.in/article/759920/law-wont-protect-sinners-like-you-scroll-in-reporter-covering-beef-protest-detained-for-seven-hours (reddit thread here: https://www.np.reddit.com/india/comments/3njhta/law_wont_protect_sinners_like_you_scrollin/) where a journalist with a press card gets detained, without charges, verbally abused and manhandled by ill-trained cops (with a political agenda and with pressure from the top that think they are running some school and treating adult citizens like children -write an apology letter?! - funny thing is even schools can't function like this legally anymore) insprised me to make this post
Notable quotes
After they established that I wasn’t the organiser, Kumar let me go with a warning: “Unse mat milo, kaat ke fenk dunga. (Don’t join them. I will cut you into pieces and throw them away.)
After my repeated insistence that I was a journalist, he asked me to prove it. I gave him my press card as well as the visiting card, both of which clearly mention my designation as a reporter at Scroll.in. “It’s all fake media,” Kumar said. He tore up my visiting card and threw the pieces at me. “I can get this made at home.”
Okay all jokes about scroll.in aside, this is an attack on media and the right to information via media.
The idea was to find everyone who interacted with the page and use it as evidence. Since they couldn’t find anything about me, they asked me to help them look up Gaurav Jain’s profile. I refused. This angered the SHO and he asked me to “get out” right away. Finally, at 8 pm, the SHO called me to tell me that I would be let go after writing an apology. “What do I apologise for?” I asked. He replied, “Just do what we say and don’t open your mouth.”
Almost seven hours after being detained, there had been no written complaint, no First Information Report, no paperwork of any sort that could prove that we had actually been detained. When we asked why we had been taken in, we were told that we had "offended the feelings of a lot of people” for which we would be “punished”. After another 30 minutes of waiting, they finally let me go without forcing me to make an apology. But my press card was missing. I asked the SHO to return it to me. “I crushed it and tore into pieces,” he said with a laugh. He finally ordered one of the constables to fetch it. He bent the hard plastic back and forth before giving it back to me. I was asked to “leave and run as soon as possible”. I got away with a damaged press card and a first-hand experience of strategies employed by the state to silence opinions it finds inconvenient.
I've been meaning to ask this in case I end up at a seemingly innocent protest and am at the receiving end of such strong-handed bullying tactics, or even not at a protest (as it seems this can happen anytime anywhere), I do feel as a citizen that one should know their legal rights and how they are being violated.
This can range from anything from traffic stops (where a cop implies a bribe be given) to an actual situation like the one highlighted in the article. In the traffic example I would ask (if I was at fault) for the ticket to be sent to my house so I can pay it later, but I know this system is in place in the US where a ticket is mailed home but I am not aware of how it is done in India. I hear of people paying the fine on the spot. Seems like there is no place for review here.
If arrested, I would generally refuse to comply until a lawyer and my family is present, but of course saying one thing and doing something in real life is completely different.
Also what is a good organization that deals in abuses such as this?

Our Pakistan policy should be playing on front foot like Sehwag: Major Gaurav Arya

A shorter version (reduced by 97.0%) can be found on IndiaSpeaks.
This is an extended summary, original article can be found here

Extended Summary:

Our Pakistan policy should be playing on front foot like Sehwag: Major Gaurav Arya.
Since decades, our soil has been moistened by the blood of our soldiers.
Countless soldiers lost, mothers left childless, wives left alone, and children who have had to grow up never knowing why their father was taken so early.
I spoke to Major Gaurav Arya, who served with 17 Kumaon Regiment from 1994 to 1999.
My questions are in bold, though its the answers that are actually bold: It is said that every government comes to power thinking that they can solve the Kashmir issue and the Pakistan conundrum.
See, there are certain facts about Kashmir which people in the opposition dont know about.
I was recently in Kashmir and almost for a week.
But the problem is that for a small problem like the roads in Srinagar, which is very much a state subject, people blame the central government because for everything they have been taught to blame the central government.
For example, the central government has to bypass the Hurriyat.
The government also has to take hard action against stone-peltors.
They tried stone pelting with the Indian Army in two operations.
And the third time, the Indian Army shot three protestors.
They peddle this entire narrative of victimhood which is imaginary.
It is just something which is now too big to be questioned and that is mainly because the successive governments in 30-40 years have not had a concrete policy.
All the 5 permanent members of the UNSC are not members who are known for their perfect human rights record.
You brought out a great disparity in the functioning of the CRPF and the Army.
Well, when the Army functions, it functions under AFSPA.
For example, if there is a problem in Kashmir and the Army is called, they are not answerable to the Chief Minister or any politician.
That itself tells you that they are under immense pressure not to react.
? CRPF doesnt have the courage to do anything, we even spit at their face and come back).
The problem is with the leadership.
He has seen the ground reality.
These are IPS officers.
And they lead a force that is heavily involved in counter insurgency and internal security operations.
Theyre being used as a punching bag to absorb Kashmiri anger.
There is one assistant sub inspector (ASI) who was about to retire.
We know 8 stone pelters were killed.
Put this down and say Major Gaurav Arya said it.
Ive met them.
This is happening and CRPF is taking all this.
Because none of this ever comes up in research.
They practice Dal Lake journalism.
Any soldiers who crosses the line should be put in jail.
But the media wont talk about them.
It went to the extent of shifting the blame of radicalisation in Kashmir to anything other than Pakistan.
How does the state deal with such 5th column information warfare? The problem is people in India who end up forwarding this narrative view Kashmir from the eyes of Karan Johar.
Then there were other groups, LeT, JeM, Hizbul Mujahideen, etc.
The identity of the Kashmir struggle is now not Kashmiri but Islamic.
So what can India do to combat the information warfare? When the PM raised Balochistan from the ramparts of Red Fort, we had an entire section say Balochistan is not our business.
We need to have a narrative which is missing right now.
Of course it is.
You see some Kashmiri websites that spread poison.
The Pakistan supporters need to realise.
Kashmir banega Pakistan? Ye saare bill main ghus jayenge.
He went inside and got killed.
We lost Captain Pawan Kumar.
We care because Kashmir is ours.
I have tried to find books etc to educate myself, but could hardly find any.
Nehru and his cabinet, except for Vallabhai Patel, was of the opinion that we dont need the armed forces after Independence.
So these people have continuously devalued and humiliated the army, which is why the Army is a very shy institution.
But serving officers cant be shown on camera.
who try our best to educate civilians.
And it needs to change.
But successive governments have given them special privileges.
Why do you think that is? Nupur, the problem is these are imaginary fears in our mind.
So, its always a notion that we cant offend the Hurriyat warna azaadi ke naare aur bhuland ho jayenge (if we offend Hurriyat, separatist demands will become stronger), which is not true.
But there is a section of people who think that any sort of military retaliation in heavy measure will lead to unprecedented escalation that in turn might result in a Nuclear winter because we are dealing with rogue state, Pakistan.
There is a character called Veeru who gets drunk on goes on the water tank saying basanti se shaadi karwao warna main mar jaunga.
They attacked us in Kargil.
They fund Kashmir unrest.
Because they know India wont retaliate.
These are called psychological ops.
What happened? The best Pakistan could do was say janaab ye hua hi nahi.
There was an article in New York post on 31st March that spoke about how India may be rethinking its no-first-strike Nuclear policy.
See, when we say we have a no-first-use policy, its because we are looking at Nuclear weapons through the prism of Pakistan.
Nobody will use Nuclear weapons but we must at least have an option on the table.
After the Surgical strike, there were many reports in the Pakistani media of them hyperventilating about how India might be gearing up to put Cold Start Doctrine in motion.
When the Indian Parliament was attacked, 9 of our bravehearts were martyred and we took exception to the fact that the fountain of our democracy was attacked.
Earlier the Army used to follow the Sundarjee doctrine.
When the time came for mobilisation to the border, these cores took more than 20 days to reach the border.
In war, you need to be quick.
They analysed old battles and they wanted to reduce the time from 21/22 days to 2 days.
The basic idea of Cold Start was this : Pakistan has a nuclear threshold.
This hammer is with the government.
There was this news of Pakistan planning to declare Gilgit Baltistan as its 5th province.
China has apprehensions about investing in CPEC that starts from a place which is not even Pakistans.
If they say Gilgit-Baltistan is a part of so called Azaad Kashmir, it has its own constitution and political establishment.
It they do it, they will alienate the separatists and also invite Indian action.
But there is also increased camaraderie between India and Afghanistan and India and Balochistan.
Our handle in Afghanistan is if we build something North West of Pakistan.
And we invest in Afghanistan so we can pressure Pakistan.
So, since it does not have the land to fight a war with India or other enemies it seeks to build influence, fifth column and insurgency.
It deserves to be free.
Simply going on the ramparts of the Red Fort wont help.
For example, India can fund a small building in Washington that can be called the Balochistan House.
So what you are saying is India needs to go beyond lip service and actually have political involvement in Balochistan? Absolutely.
Yes.
That time we were fighting against China and we werent the power we are today.
Can we discuss its implications and whether that would be in Indias best interest? We can certainly discuss it.
If Iran permits we should have Indian troops in Afghanistan.
But heres the thing, whether you send troops to Afghanistan or not, Pakistan and China will continue their aggression.
So according to you, if Iran permits, India should definitely send troops to Afghanistan and also help Balochistan in their fight for liberation politically and militarily.
We should give artillery guns and aircrafts to Afghanistan.
Simply spending money is not enough.
So you endorse this? Absolutely.
We should bat like Virender Sehwag! What if someone says that allying with Afghanistan or arming them could be a mistake like that committed by the USA.
Allying with Afghanistan has got nothing to do with the Kashmir policy.
Also, it is good for us that Pakistan feels pressure of a hostile regime from its North West.
Well, they are learning about international power pressure.
Yes..
They are doing it and doing it aggressively.
So you are saying these issues are being put on the back burner because of electoral politics? No.
But our priorities are different.
I do think what Narendra Modi is trying to do is extremely good for the nation.
Do you think a law like that would help? Sure.
Imagine a stone pelter who is 17-18 years of age.
Put them in different jails for a year where nobody understands them, their language, their culture.
Dont harm them.
That Pakistan wants to drag the Indian army and the state to their level in the international community? Yes.
But also that for a very long time the Pakistani people have been told by the Pakistan army that every problem in Pakistan is sponsored by India.
He was captured by the local Taliban and handed over to the ISI.
The Sunni jamaat kills Shias in Pakistan.
This is why I asked, because the Pakistan PM has gone on record to equate Mr.
They captured one guy from Iran, and beat him into giving a confession.
At the end of your entire interview, once the aman ki asha gang has read it, their standard response will be that this is hyper-nationalism.
I am a proud hyper-nationalist.
I am an ultra-nationalist.
The liberals should tell me, what are they willing to do for their belief.
Yes.
I can shed blood for my commitment.
Theyre wrong.
I as an Army person have been injured and have seen my brothers die.
The people who are on the path to martyrdom are saying they want a free hand to solve the Pakistan problem.
So the hyper-nationalists who dont have the gumption or courage to pick up the gun, have the right to assert You are not allowed to pick up the gun.
If tomorrow Nupur says she wants to go join the Army, she might not be accepted.
You think the Army will allow your group of friends to go fight in Kashmir even if you want to? This is liberal silliness.
They say if we go to war, the nation should be prepared to absorb the costs.
Of course its worth it.
We are talking of war because there was a Pathankot, a Nagrota, a 26/11, a Yadav, a Uri.
If Pakistans question is military, shouldnt our answer also be military? Mr.
They are Alice in Wonderland.
War does not care whether we agree with it or not.
I thank you.
They want him to tone down the truth which he refuses to do.
